MFI was founded in 1964 specialising in flat packed furniture supplied by mail order. By the 1970s they had a number of MFI stores selling their mail order items direct to the public. Gradually moving away from mail order into retail they also acquired well known furniture brands Hygena and Schreiber (one of the best known furniture brands in the UK) to supply a full range of MFI furniture for the bedroom, bathroom and kitchens. In the mid 1990s they opened their first MFI Homeworks store introducing homewares & textiles into the traditional fitted furniture range. MFI is now the largest furniture manufacturer in the UK with approximately 200 stores nationwide. They have a strong reputation for good value for money MFI kitchens (including MFI fitted kitchens), MFI bathrooms, MFI bedrooms and MFI Home office furniture.
